Crafted under the guidance of legendary producer/engineer Rob Fraboni (known for his work with Bob Dylan, The Band, and The Rolling Stones), the new Secret Beach album, "We Were Born Here, What's Your Excuse?"—aptly named after The Simpsons episode where they travel to Winnipeg—is a timeless fusion of high-fidelity production and raw, organic charm.

Recorded in Micah Erenberg’s clandestine studio, where he eschews digital technology in favour of vintage equipment and analog tape, the album exudes a warmth and depth that beckons listeners to immerse themselves in its rich textures and intricate layers, as if transported to the very room where the tracks were conceived.
The album's sonic landscape is elevated by several noteworthy features. Prairie favourites Boy Golden, Fontine, and Kacy & Clayton grace a number of tracks, while "Where Did It Go?" showcases Micah’s childhood best friend, Daniel Diamond, who not only penned the song but also delivers a brilliantly emotive vocal performance. Additionally, the album includes "Hat’s Way Of Walking," a cover of the ultra-outsider artist The Famous Sandhogs, hailed by Micah as "the greatest band you've never heard."
“We Were Born Here, What's Your Excuse?" is out this August on Victory Pool Records. With its breathtaking beauty, emotional depth, and unique sonic innovation, this album firmly establishes itself as a masterpiece of homegrown magic and endearing allure."
